Art Takes Place

Architektonische Highlights - Historische AufnahmenThe opening of the Art Hall is the visible expression of the many years of effort needed to make Schweinfurt in Franconia a competence centre, not only for classic modernism but also going as far as contemporary art.

The new realism of the architecture of the indoor swimming pool donated by the Schweinfurt industrialist Ernst Sachs and built to the plans of Roderich Fick between 1931 and 1933 represents the ideal outer shell for the new Art Hall. After the reconstruction planned by Prof. Hartwig N. Schneider and implemented under the direction of Dr. Ropertz & Partner, the municipal art collections, the exhibits of Schweinfurt Art Society and the Joseph Hierling collection will be shown on two floors covering almost 2,200 square metres. These permanent exhibitions will be supplemented and enhanced by four to five temporary exhibitions a year.
